A train for Karachi Circular Railway met an accident during its trial run Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Both federal and provincial governments are keen to revive the circular train in the most populous city of the country on directives of the highest court of law to get over the decades-old problem transports problems of the citizens.

However, it seems a long way ahead till the project could be materialised due to a number of glitches and hindrances due to the encroached old infrastructure for the train as well as lack sincerity and will of the relevant authorities.

The project is now facing a further delay as a train that was being run on a trial basis for the project from Karachi City of Orangi Station met an accident raising the doubts regarding the viability and safety of the projects.

The incident took place near Sher Shah during the change of the line. The engine and a car of the train were involved in the incident while concerned officials and the technical crew was present in the train when the accident occurred.

Pakistan Railways officials confirmed that a train was to be run on a trial basis for the Karachi Circular Railway project but said they did not know about any accident involving the train during the trial run.
