US woman to be discharged from Karachi hospital in few hours

Onijah Robinson, the American woman, who had come to Karachi in October 2024 to meet her 19-year-old lover whom she had befriended on social media, was shifted from the Jinnah Hospital’s Psychiatry Ward to the Special Ward on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The hospital administration told the media that the woman’s different tests such as MRI, CT scan and ultrasound were normal and she was only suffering from mental strain, and that she would be discharged from the hospital and handed over either to the US consulate or the FIA in a few hours from now.   

Earlier, in a statement the son of the woman described his mother as mentally ill and claimed that her ability to think and reason was impaired, leading to her mental state becoming unstable.

Robinson had travelled to Pakistan in October, 2024, after falling in love with a 19-year-old boy from Karachi. 

She has been in the country ever since, claiming to be married to the Pakistani man, saying that their marriage took place online.
