Pakistan, China agree to bolster security, intelligence cooperation

China has reiterated its strong condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and reaffirmed its firm support for Pakistan in the fight against militancy, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong said during a meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Thursday.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Chinese ambassador called on the interior minister at the Ministry of Interior, where he was formally received by Mohsin Naqvi.

During the meeting, Ambassador Jiang expressed complete solidarity with the victims of recent terrorist attacks targeting civilians and security forces in Balochistan.

He conveyed deep condolences and sympathy to the affected families, describing the attacks as acts of terrorism that China unequivocally condemns.

The Chinese envoy said that China stands shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan in this difficult time and strongly opposes terrorism in all its manifestations.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the ambassador on the timely and effective operations carried out by security forces in Balochistan, as well as the measures being taken to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals and Chinese-funded projects across Pakistan.

The interior minister said the wave of terrorism in Balochistan was part of a well-planned and organised campaign but stressed that Pakistan’s security forces had responded swiftly and decisively.

Naqvi underscored that providing maximum security to Chinese citizens was Pakistan’s top priority, adding that the protection of Chinese nationals and projects was of paramount importance.

He said no enemy could undermine the enduring Pakistan-China friendship. The interior minister also disclosed that a Special Protection Unit was being established specifically for the security of Chinese nationals and noted that modern Chinese technology and equipment would play a key role in coordinated counterterrorism operations.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also informed the ambassador about his recent successful visit to China. The meeting included detailed discussions on counterterrorism, internal security and broader security cooperation.

Both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in intelligence sharing and cybercrime prevention and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the Pakistan-China strategic partnership.

The Chinese ambassador thanked the Pakistani government for the security measures taken for Chinese citizens, while the interior minister expressed gratitude to China for its unwavering support to Pakistan at all times.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the interior secretary, the special secretary interior and senior officials from the Chinese embassy were also present at the meeting.
