A Bangladeshi electrician working in Abu Dhabi has hit the jackpot after 12 long years of persistence, winning a life-changing lottery prize worth 25 million dirhams (approximately Rs1.93 billion Pakistani rupees).
Mohammad Nasir Bilal, 43, who has been living in the UAE for the past 14 years, had been buying Big Ticket raffle entries every month since 2012. His dedication finally paid off when ticket number 061080, purchased on June 24 from the Abu Dhabi International Airport, was declared the winning number.
Initially, the Big Ticket hosts, Richard and Bushra, struggled to contact him after the draw, despite repeated attempts. However, the team eventually managed to deliver the life-altering news.
Speaking after the win, a stunned Bilal admitted he was still in shock:
“I still can’t believe this is real. I’ve been buying tickets every month for 12 years, dreaming of this day—and it finally came true.”
Nasir, who supports his family back home in Bangladesh, is now contemplating how this sudden windfall will change his life. His story is being celebrated across the South Asian expat community in the UAE as a testament to patience, perseverance, and a bit of luck.
