Karachi gets power relief as electricity prices rise across rest of Pakistan

In a mixed move affecting power consumers nationwide, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Thursday announced separate monthly fuel cost adjustment notifications for Karachi and the rest of the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Karachi’s electricity consumers will receive a significant relief, with power prices slashed by Rs 2.99 per unit. This reduction, applicable to K-Electric under the March 2025 monthly adjustment, will reflect in June’s electricity bills, offering much-needed respite amid ongoing inflationary pressures.

Conversely, for consumers in the rest of Pakistan—excluding Karachi—electricity has become costlier. NEPRA’s notification confirms an increase of 93 paisa per unit, based on the April 2025 adjustment, which will also show up in upcoming bills.
