Three workers electrocuted to death while repairing lights at Multan Toll Plaza
Three workers were killed after suffering a severe electric shock while carrying out maintenance work at the Sher Shah Toll Plaza on Shujaabad Road in Multan, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.
According to initial reports, the workers had climbed onto the steel roof of the toll plaza to repair lighting fixtures installed on the structure. After completing the work, they were transporting a metal ladder back to a storage area when it reportedly came into contact with overhead power lines.
The collision caused a powerful electric current to pass through the ladder, fatally electrocuting all three men at the scene.
Rescue officials said emergency teams provided first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before shifting the victims to Nishtar Hospital in Multan.
However, the workers could not be revived.
The deceased were identified as 23-year-old Abdul Qayyum, 38-year-old Ameen, and Atif.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the incident appeared to have resulted from negligence and a failure to observe necessary safety precautions while handling the metal ladder near live electricity wires.
