The State Bank of Pakistan on Tuesday gave a go-head to banks to use currency notes that were quarantined for 14 days as per the World Health Organization guidelines, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
It is pertinent to note that State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on March 23 directed banks to quarantine the cash received from hospitals and clinics and ensure issuance disinfected cash.
According to SBP, cash quarantine for 14 days would now sufficient to disinfect the banknotes from coronavirus.
The World Health Organization has also advised that the life of the virus on banknotes is lower in comparison to other hard surfaces.
SBP said that the credit given to banks for quarantined cash would be reversed on 15th day from each reported date.
