Snowfall, rain in upper parts of Pakistan send temperatures plummeting

The first rain and snowfall of the winter season in the upper parts of the country during the last 24 hours resulted in a marked drop in temperatures, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

There are reports of snowfall over the mountains in Swat, Upper Dir, Malam Jabba, Kalam, different parts of Mansehra, including Naran and Kaghan, Kashmir and other areas due to which tourists were restricted to their hotels while traffic remained suspended on roads.

Babusar Top in Mansehra had received up to six inches of snow till the filing of this report.

Saidu Sharif received the highest amount of rainfall totaling 61 millimeters.

Rain, snow in Muzaffarabad 

Different areas of upper and central Kashmir received rain and snow, which turned the weather chilly.

Snowfall was reported from Leepa Valley, upper Neelum Valley, capital Muzaffarabad, Pir Chinasi and Koh-e-Makrra.

Rain and snow was followed by dense fog, which engulfed Muzaffarabad and its surrounding areas.

Twin cities lashed by rain, hailstorm 

Likewise, temperatures dropped considerably after rain and a hailstorm lashed Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Tuesday night.

Temperatures came down by four degrees Celsius in the twin cities.

The Met Office forecast that the maximum temperature in the twin cities would be recorded at 22 degrees Celsius, while it would remain 13 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.

The humidity level in the air, it predicted, would be 54 per cent, while cool breeze would blow at the speed of 11 kilometers per hour.

More rain, snowfall predicted

On the other hand, the weather department has forecast more rainfall for the upper parts of the country, including Lahore, during the next 24 hours.
