Pakistan Stock Exchange climbs to another all-time high

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday maintained its winning streak amid economic stability and strengthening foreign exchange reserves, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In the early trading session, the PSX’s benchmark KSE-100 Index gained 1,034.51 points or 0.67 percent to hit 153,700.23 points.

As many as 451 companies transacted their shares in the stock market so far, with 269 of them gained and 171 sustained losses, whereas the share prices of 11 companies remained unchanged.

The positive momentum came as the government has expressed its resolve to address the circular debt issue of the power sector. The rupee stability and rising forex reserves have also improved investor confidence.

Pakistan’s total liquid foreign reserves saw a modest increase of $ 41.7 million, or 0.21%, reaching a total of $19.65 billion as of August 29, 2025, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The rise in reserves was primarily driven by the SBP’s own forex reserves, which increased by $28.2 million during the week, taking the SBP reserves to $14.3 billion.

Earlier on Thursday, the index had continued with bullish trend, gaining 463.85 more points, a positive change of 0.30 percent, closing at 152,665.72 points.

A total of 954,327,333 shares were traded during the day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs46.053 billion against Rs 51.308 billion on the last trading day.

As many as 480 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 208 of them recorded gains and 240 sustained losses, whereas the share prices of 32 companies remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were Bank of Punjab with 99,494,831 shares at Rs 18.36 per share, K-Electric Limited with 45,314,206 shares at Rs5.34 per share and Pak International Bulk with 38,556,661 shares at Rs13.44 per share.

Hoechst Pakistan Limited witnessed a maximum increase of Rs 101.89 per share price, closing at Rs 4,101.27, whereas the runner-up was Sitara Chemical Industries Limited with Rs72.52 rise in its per share price to Rs797.70.

PIA Holding Company LimitedB witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs 475.13 per share closing at Rs 26,340.67 followed by Siemens (Pakistan) Engineering with Rs122.00 decline in its share price to close at Rs 1553.00.
