Easy Facilitation Centre to help importers and exporters at Karachi Port
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry presided over a special meeting in Karachi on Saturday during which it was decided to establish Easy Facilitation Center to facilitate importers and exporters at Karachi Port, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing the participants of the meeting, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that all the facilities will be available for importers and exporters under one roof.
The minister further stated that businessmen will not have to take round trips to different departments to address their grievances.
Junaid Chaudhry said that all the relevant departments have to appoint a focalperson to resolve their issues.
The minister assured that all the proposals of stakeholders will be included in these projects. He said that the Easy Facilitation Center will also decrease port charges and will expand trade volume and revenue generation through ports.
Earlier on September 4, 2026, Junaid Chaudhry said Pakistan is prioritizing port modernization, the blue economy and environmental sustainability as part of wide-ranging reforms to transform the country’s maritime sector.
During a meeting in Istanbul with Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the minister briefed him on the government’s initiatives to attract maritime investment and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and strengthen international cooperation.
The two sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in ship recycling, maritime governance, the blue economy and environmental protection. Junaid Chaudhry highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to conserve coastal ecosystems through large-scale mangrove plantation and other sustainable initiatives.
Mr Dominguez praised Pakistan’s progress in maritime reforms and welcomed its efforts to advance ship recycling, strengthen maritime governance and harness the potential of the blue economy.
