Binance Global CEO calls on PM, CDF General Asim to discusses cooperation on digital assets
Senior leaders from Binance, including Global CEO Richard Teng called on Prime Minster Shehbaz Sharif and Chiefs of Defence Forces General Asim Munir in Islamabad to discuss bilateral cooperation on digital assets, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Saturday.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and CEO of Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority Bilal bin Saqib also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Bilal bin Saqib briefed the participants about the performance and the goals of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority.
Earlier the government convened a high-level consultative meeting on the National Digital Asset Framework at the Finance Division to review establishing a regulated digital asset ecosystem.
The meeting was attended by top government officials, banking executives, and senior leaders from Binance, including Global CEO Richard Teng.
The session, co-chaired by Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and PVARA Chairman Bilal Bin Saqib, brought together the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, presidents of leading commercial banks, and Binance’s global leadership to chart the country’s next moves in digital asset regulation and innovation. Discussions focused on building a secure, transparent, and innovation-driven digital asset environment.
Key topics included responsible on- and off-ramp infrastructure, enhanced compliance standards, and stronger integration of regulated financial institutions. The group also reviewed the development of a licensing regime for Virtual Asset Service Providers to meet global anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing standards.
