Local people shaved head, beard and moustache of a child abuse accused and blackened his face following his attempt to assault an eight-year-old child.

The incident occurred in Jalalpur Jattan where people caught Qari Sibghatullah after he allegedly attempted to abuse a minor sexually.

Family members rushed for the minor’s rescue after he raised alarms. They overpowered Sibghatullah and tortured him severely.

Residents of the neighbourhood also gathered and gave the Qari a sound beating. Later, they shaved his head, beard and moustache. With blackened face, they took the accused around the area. The accused, however, managed to escape the scene.

People claimed the accused had been involved in 10 other cases of child abuse. He used to film the ugly scenes to blackmail the victims.

The police came into action after video of the incident went viral on social media. Gujrat DPO Touseef Haider formed a committee under supervision of DSP Hafiz Saeed Warraich to look into the incident and track down Qari Sibghatullah.

The DPO said that action will also be taken against people who took the law into their hands.
