PTI govt defeats PML-N in raising electricity tariff

Just like an unprecedented hike in prices of other items, the present government has made record-breaking increase in electricity rates as well as it has doubled the tariffs of households consuming 300 units of electricity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to the Ministry of Energy’s report, electricity tariffs recorded annual 11.72 per cent increase under the PTI government as compared with 5.18 per cent increase under the PML-N government so much so that the total increase in tariffs made during the present government’s two and half years is well over that was made during the PML-N government’s five years in office.
According to the report, total 25.9 per cent raise in the electricity bills of households consuming 300 units was witnessed under five years of the PML-N government, and from March 2013 to May 2018, the tariff increased from Rs2,430 to Rs3,060.
Contrary to that 29.3 per cent increase has been registered only during the two and half years of the PTI government.
