All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) President and Executive Committee members met with Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi at the CM House on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The APNS delegation expressed its good wishes for the chief minister. Views were also exchanged on the challenges confronting the newspaper industry.

The chief minister assured the delegation that he would take every possible step to resolve the issues the industry was facing.

CM Naqvi directed the Punjab Department of Information to immediately pay arrears of advertisements to the newspaper’s owners.

The chief minister said that the provision of facilities at Lahore’s all big hospitals would soon be completed.

He went on to say that the angiography of heart patients would be conducted at selected government hospitals within two hours for free. “The Punjab government will complete the construction of an Emergency Block at Jinnah Hospital in the next few months,” CM Naqvi said.

He further said that the provincial government would complete work on the Kalima Chowk and Samanabad underpasses ahead of the deadline.

The chief minister told the APNS delegation that the law and order situation in the province was gradually improving.

He said that the Punjab government would send a team of rescuers to Turkey to assist in relief efforts. “There will be less number of works in a short span of time, but these would be of quality,” he concluded.
