Desert Vipers finally crowned ILT20 Champions after dominant final win

The Desert Vipers ended years of near misses by clinching their maiden ILT20 title, defeating MI Emirates by 46 runs in a commanding final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Led by skipper Sam Curran’s unbeaten 74, the Vipers posted a competitive 182 for 4 after opting to bat first. Curran’s composed knock, featuring eight fours and two sixes, anchored the innings, while Max Holden contributed a brisk 41. Cameos from Fakhar Zaman and Dan Lawrence ensured a strong finish.

In response, MI Emirates’ chase faltered under relentless pressure. Despite resistance from Shakib Al Hasan (36), Kieron Pollard (28) and Muhammad Waseem (26), the Emirates were bowled out for 136 in 18.3 overs.

The Vipers’ triumph was sealed by a disciplined bowling display, spearheaded by Naseem Shah and David Payne, who picked up three wickets each. Khuzaima Tanveer and Usman Tariq provided crucial support with two wickets apiece.

The victory was especially significant for the Sam Curran-led Desert Vipers, who were appearing in their third ILT20 final in four seasons, finally converting consistency into championship glory.
