Motorways closed due to thick fog in Punjab

Dense fog has enveloped several parts of Punjab and other regions of the country, forcing the closure of multiple sections of the motorway aiming to ensure the safety of road users, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to details, Motorway M-11 was closed to all kinds of traffic from Lahore to Sialkot, M-2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, M-3 from Sumandari to Rajana, and M-4 from Faisalabad to Multan, as well as M-5 from Multan to Zahir Pir.

Low visibility was also witnessed in Manawala, Garha More, Liaquatpur, Nankana Sahib, Shah Kot, Kot Sultan, and Toba Tek Singh, and also affected traffic flow in these areas. 

Dense fog has also disrupted traffic at several places in the province on the National Highways, as visibility is from zero to 100 meters.

According to the Motorway Police sources, safe travel times during fog are from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. 

The Motorway police have appealed the drivers to use the Grand Trunk (GT) Road for travelling. They have also urged the drivers to drive slowly and switch on fog lights while driving.

The Motorway police have also requested people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travelling.
