July 6, 2020 10:19 PM

Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Monday strongly condemned the attack on the protesting journalists who were demonstrating for the freedom of the press.

He said the PTI government has once again attacked the freedom of the press.

He said the Pemra guards opened fire on the peaceful journalists who were protesting for the freedom of the press and for their democratic rights.

“We strongly condemn such attack as it is against the norms of the democracy and the freedom of the press,” said the PPP chairman in a video message.

Bilawal said the PTI government has been attacking the freedom of press He since coming into the power.

“First they attacked the media houses, media workers and journalists on the economic front. Then they forced the media houses to sack the journalists. They also arrested an owner of a channel, Mir Shakeel ur Rehman, who is still in prison.”

He said 24News was the second TV channel which has been forced to shut down and when journalists were protesting against the suspension of the channel, the guards of a government organisation, Pemra, opened fire at them.

“PPP in the strongest possible terms, condemn this dictatorial attitude of the PTI government,’ said Bilawal.
