Karachi police arrest mastermind of Rs9m robbery

Karachi police on Saturday claimed to have arrested the alleged mastermind behind a Rs9 million robbery and recovered Rs4.5 million in cash in the high-profile case that took place earlier this year, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday. 

According to officials of the Preedy Police Station, the suspect, identified as Noor Wali, was arrested in an injured condition during a recent operation. Investigators believed he played a central role in planning and executing the robbery.

The incident occurred on February 14 near Regal Chowk in Karachi's Saddar area, where approximately Rs9 million was allegedly snatched from employees of a solar inverter dealer who were transporting the cash.

Police had earlier arrested two suspects, Asad and Bilal alias Sheena, in connection with the case.

Investigations later revealed that Bilal had been working for the solar inverter dealer for nearly 10 years and was considered a trusted employee.

According to police, Bilal received annual bonuses and a share in recovery operations, but allegedly used his insider knowledge to help organize the robbery.

Investigators said he provided crucial information about the movement of cash to his accomplices.

Police said Bilal informed fellow suspects when the money was being transported to a bank after delivering food to his employer's residence.

Acting on the tip-off, the suspects allegedly targeted two employees and carried out the robbery.

Authorities believed Noor Wali, Bilal and Asad jointly planned the heist.

During the investigation, police recovered Rs4.5 million that had allegedly been buried underground in an attempt to conceal the stolen money.
