A new complaint against Supreme Court judge Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi has been filed in the Supreme Judicial Council, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The complainant has pleaded with the SJC to hold an immediate hearing of the reference against Justice Naqvi and restrain him from hearing cases assigned to him till the final judgement on the reference against him is pronounced.

The SJC has been prayed that no new case should be assigned to Justice Naqvi, nor should he be included in any bench of the court. 

The complaint was filed by Mian Dawood Advocate in the Supreme Judicial Council. 

The copies of the complaint have also been dispatched to four other members of the SJC. 

The complainant said that a reference against Justice Naqvi is already pending in the SJC. He said that the SC cause list issued for the current week has revealed that Justice Naqvi is still hearing cases. He said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan has included Justice Naqvi in one of his benches. The CJP has also made him the head of a separate bench, he added. 

The complainant said that voices demanding accountability of Justice Naqvi are being raised all across the country. 

It’s against the rules of justice on the part of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to include Justice Naqvi in the benches. 

The CJP’s action has sent a message to people that he is backing Justice Naqvi and his action has dented the prestige of the judiciary. 

Mr Dawood further stated that any decision to be pronounced by Justice Naqvi would be construed as doubtful. 

This is the second complaint filed in the SJC against Justice Naqvi since a purported audio tape featuring him and the former chief minister of Punjab was leaked.
