Punjab govt starts sealing properties of tax defaulters

Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has started sealing properties of tax defaulter, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to Excise authorities, on the orders of DG Excise, 5,300 properties including 2,100 in Lahore were sealed in the first two days. 

Excise authorities said over Rs70 million tax is due from the owners of the properties to be sealed in Lahore. 

Over Rs160 million tax is due from the defaulter property owners across Punjab. 

They said 300 properties paying more than Rs10 million were de-sealed in Lahore while 1600 properties were de-sealed across Punjab after paying Rs25 million in tax. 

DG Excise Umar Sher Chatha had ordered recovery by sealing defaulted commercial, semi-commercial and rental properties. 

All ETOs across Punjab have been given a target of sealing at least 150 properties daily. 

DG Excise said that steps are being taken to achieve the 80 percent target by the end of the current month.
