CJP Yahya Afridi calls 2-day National Judicial Committee meeting on May 26-27
Committee to review court system reforms: All CJs of high courts and Shariat Court expected to attend meeting
The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, has summoned a meeting of the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC) on May 26 and 27, 2025, to deliberate judicial reforms, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The meeting, to be held under the chairmanship of CJ Afridi, will focus on key reform agenda items aimed at enhancing the efficiency, performance, and capacity of the country’s judicial system.
All chief justices of the high courts as well as the chief justice of the Federal Shariat Court are expected to attend the high-level conference.
The Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan will facilitate the meeting and provide secretarial support through its secretariat.
Established under Ordinance LXXI of 2002, the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee plays a critical role in coordinating and harmonising judicial policy across all court tiers. The Secretary of the Law & Justice Commission acts as the Committee Secretary.
According to the Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan, the committee is mandated to improve the administration and performance of the justice system; to set performance standards for judges and officers involved in judicial and quasi-judicial functions; to enhance service conditions of judicial officers and court staff for a more skilled and effective judiciary; to ensure the publication of periodic reports by all tiers of the judiciary, including subordinate and administrative courts; and to submit an annual report to the President of Pakistan detailing its functions and progress.
The upcoming session is expected to address challenges and propose new reforms for better delivery of justice in the country.
