Divorce woman moves court against father, demands financial help

A divorce woman has moved civil court in Lahore against her father, who was refusing to provide her financial assistance to meet her daily expenses, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.

After hearing the arguments of the complainant’s counsel, civil court judge has issued notice to the father to appear before the court on next hearing. Kulsoom, a divorced woman from Samanabad, filed a financial assistance claim in the civil court against her father.

Her counsel Ashfaq Abbasi contended that Kulsoom’s father Allah Ditta is financially stable but he was refusing to financially support her daughter who was hand to mouth after her divorce.

Kulsoom’s counsel also presented Lahore High Court's judgment before the judge given in 2012 which stated that a divorced woman can file a claim for expenses against her father. During the argument in the court, Advocate Ashfaq Abbasi also contended that if a woman was divorced and did not earn, then it is also sharia obligation on a father to provide expenses to his divorced daughter.

After hearing the arguments of woman’s lawyers, civil court issued noticed to her father for next hearing.
