DPM Dar discusses regional situation with Afghan FM Muttaqi

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Afghanistan’s interim foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to review regional political situation as well as bilateral relations, reported 24 News HD TV channel. 

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, both leaders expressed satisfaction over bilateral relations. 

During the conversation, the Foreign Minister briefed Afghan counterpart about recent provocations by India against Pakistan, as well as illegal and unilateral actions. Both sides agreed to continue high-level engagement to further improve bilateral relations, which have been strained in recent years. 

The discussions focused on key issues such as security, connectivity, economic cooperation, people-to-people contacts, and reactivating political consultation mechanisms, according to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Amir Muttaqi appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to ease trade and travel between the two countries. In the end, Afghanistan’s Interim Foreign Minister also invited Ishaq Dar to visit Afghanistan again and sent his prayers and best wishes for the people and government of Pakistan.
