PTI leaders denounce police action against party lawmakers at Adiala Jail

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leaders lashed out at the government after they were beaten up by the Punjab Police outside Adiala Jail where they had gathered to express solidarity with the sisters of the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan.

Talking to the media, Amir Dogar, who is chief whip in the National Assembly of Pakistan, thanked the people who came to join the sit-in outside the Adiala Jail and said that Punjab Police hit him and other lawmakers of his party with sticks. He said that Punjab Police’s action against the PTI leaders showed that people’s votes had no value. He however said that police torture could not stop them from achieving their goal and they would continue their protests.

Omar Ayub Khan, leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, said that PTI leaders’ speeches in the assembly were not telecast despite the fact that not even a single word was removed from their speeches by the speaker. He said that SP Nabeel and Zainab led the police action against the PTI lawmakers on Tuesday. He said that PTI leaders would give Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif a tough time in the National Assembly session on Wednesday.

He said that PTI leaders were not being allowed to meeting Imran Khan. He said the government had torn apart the concept of national unity. He said the armed forces of Pakistan would have to stand by the people of Pakistan. He said that Imran Khan was the only leader who could unite the nation in this hour of crisis. He said that Imran Khan must be invited if any all parties conference takes place in future otherwise it would be a useless exercise.

PTI leader Salman Akram Raja said it was a black day courts today have become completely ineffective and undignified. He said that Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar assured them that he would ensure their meeting with Imran Khan, but police beat them up instead when they went to meet Imran Khan.

He said that PTI leaders were first deprived of their seats in assemblies and then they were deprived of special seats. He said that people of Pakistan have become helpless and now they have no option but to take to the streets. He said that an anti-government movement would begin in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and spread to entire Pakistan.
