Pakistan and Turkish Interior Ministries agree to establish Joint Working Group to boost cooperation

Interior Minister of Turkiye Ali Yerlikaya visited Ministry of Interior in Islamabad to hold talks with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi warmly on bilateral cooperation in various fields, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

According to details, Interior Minister Naqvi hold one-to-one and delegation level meeting with his Turkish counterpart. Both sides agreed on the establishment of Joint Working Group to further boost cooperation in the Ministries of Interior of both countries. 

Detailed talks were held at the delegation level, in which discussions were held on enhancing cooperation in the areas of counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, human trafficking, border security, cybercrime, coast guard and police. 

There was agreement on the establishment of a joint working group which will meet four times a year to bolster cooperation between the interior ministries of the two countries. 

Pakistan's security is not separate from Turkey's security, said Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. Turkey appreciated Pakistan's active role in counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics, immigration and human trafficking. 

Naqvi said human trafficking and illegal immigration were an international issue and there was critical need to work together to combat them. Pakistan announces full support for Turkey in Interpol elections. ‎Naqvi said Pakistan's Anti-Narcotics Force was doing commendable work despite limited resources. Interior Minister Naqvi said not a single case of drug smuggling was reported during the last five years from Pakistan to Turkey. 

The two countries agreed to increase cooperation in the field of police training so that two sides benefit from each other's experiences in various fields.  Ali Yerlikaya said Turkey attaches great importance to brotherly relations with Pakistan. He said ‎Turkey is keen to advance relations with Pakistan in all sectors. 

“Establishment of joint working group will promote cooperation between the two countries”, said Interior Minister Turkiye Ali Yerlikaya. 

Members of the Turkish delegation, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Federal Secretary Interior, Special Secretary Interior, Additional Secretaries Interior, DGANF, DGFIA, Commandant NPA, IGFC, National Coordinator NECTA, DGNCCIA, Chief Commissioner VIG Islamabad and DG Passport and Immigration were also present on this occasion.
