State Bank imposes Rs1.47b fine on NBP over counterfeit notes

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has imposed Rs1.47 billion fine on National Bank of Pakistan after reviewing discrepancies in its financial report, reported 24 NewsHD TV channel. 

According to central bank, heavy fine was imposed on National Bank of Pakistan after counterfeit notes were discovered during an inspection of its financial reports. 

On the other hand, National Bank of Pakistan officials say that the responsibility for counterfeit notes lies with the respective branches.
