Lahore Police implements AI system to predict and prevent crime

The Lahore police on Monday implemented an artificial intelligence (AI) powered crime prediction system designed to identify potential crime hotspots and forecast criminal activity before it occurs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Developed by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), the system marks a significant advancement in predictive policing within Pakistan.

It analyses three years of FIR data, integrates Safe City surveillance feeds, and incorporates real-time field intelligence to help police allocate resources more strategically across the city.

Officials described the AI system as a “strategic multiplier” that enhances current policing strategies, which have already contributed to a substantial reduction in crime.

During a high-level review meeting on the new AI-based model, participants examined data from the Lahore Police Operations Wing.

According to official figures, property-related crimes in the city decreased by 77 percent between 2023 and 2025 — one of the sharpest declines in urban crime in Pakistan. Police records show 80,827 property cases were registered in 2023, dropping to 45,865 in 2024 and further down to 18,558 by September 2025.

Currently, the predictive model is being fine-tuned using historical FIR records. Once fully operational, it will generate predictive maps to guide patrol deployment and rapid response across the provincial capital.
