Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the names for the appointment of new Punjab inspector general of police and chief secretary, reported 24News HD TV channel on Monday. 

Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) director-general Additional IG Rao Sardar will replace IGP Inam Ghani while former federal finance secretary Dr Kamran Ali Afzal will replace Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik.

It is pertinent to mention, the PTI government is going to change the Punjab police for the 7th time during its three-year rule. Inam Ghani had been appointed IGP on September 9, 2020. Earlier, Kaleem Imam, Muhammad Tahir, Amjad Saleemi, Arif Nawaz, and Shoab Dastagir have served as Punjab IGP for three, one, six, seven, and nine months respectively. 

Likewise, the Punjab government going to change the chief secretary for the fifth time, in the PTI-led government’s three-year tenure.

The decision for transfer/posting of IGP and the chief secretary was taken during the meeting between the PM and the Punjab chief minister.
