CM Naqvi orders urgent steps to protect roads from cracking

Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi on Friday presided over a meeting regarding excel load management and gave instructions for immediate and sustainable measures to protect roads from erosion and cracking, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the meeting, it was decided that the Industry Rules 1996 and Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 will be amended.

The CM reviewed proposal to install digital weighting stations on selected major roads of Punjab. 

The meeting discussed on how and with the help of whom this proposal will be executed. 

Department of Communication and Works will formulate a policy for digital weighing of transport meanwhile Punjab Highway Police will check fixed weight in goods vehicles. 

Moreover, the digital channels will be linked to PITB's app. The corresponding district dashboard will receive the weight information for each goods vehicle.

Weight machines of crushing plant, grain markets will be linked to PITB app. weight machines of cement, sugar, factories will also be connected to PITB app. 

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Chairman Planning, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Secretaries Law, Industrialists, Secretary Local Government, Secretary of Works and Communications, Secretary of Transport, Information Secretary, Chairman PITB, and DG Rescue 1122.
