Lahore police have filed a case against renowned singer Salman Ahmed under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for allegedly conducting propaganda against national security institutions and the state on social media, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.

The case was registered at the Defence police station on behalf of the police.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Salman Ahmed posted false propaganda and shared hateful content against national institutions on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The FIR further states that an on-duty police officer personally observed these posts.

Salman Ahmed has approximately 265,400 followers on X, indicating the extensive reach of his content.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) expelled singer Salman Ahmad from the party and also suspended his membership for criticizing family of PTI founder Imran Khan.

The party had issued multiple warnings to Salman Ahmad but the Junoon guitarist did not change his behaviour.
