Kh Asif advises KP CM Afridi to focus on tackling terrorism

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has urged Khyber Paktunkhawa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to look into the menace of terrorism in the province, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel. 

Talking to media outside parliament House Islamabad, Defence Minister advised KP Chief Minister to visit every nook and corner of his own province instead of visiting the other provinces so that people of the KP province realize that they have their chief minister. 

He urged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister to attend funerals of martyrs, so that make people feel that “you are expressing solidarity with the martyrs”. 

Khawaja Asif termed that the tours of others provinces by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM was nothing but a drama. He said that a political worker should not leave his own province to create scene in other places. 

Khawaja Asif lamented that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf does not have a clear stance against the menace of terrorism. 

Earlier, in an interview with a private TV channel. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan may no longer need to seek further assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) within the next six months, citing an unprecedented rise in defence procurement orders following last year’s military confrontation with India.

Kh Asif said the May 2025 conflict with India served as a real-time test of Pakistan’s military capabilities, particularly its aircraft, which he claimed performed with “validated” precision during the standoff.

Kh Asif said the volume of defence orders received by Pakistan since the conflict had grown so significantly that the country might be able to avoid another IMF programme in the near future. 

The Defence Minister reiterated that Pakistan had demonstrated both readiness and resolve during the confrontation, warning that any future Indian aggression would draw a similar response.

According to the minister, the conflict dented the domestic and international standing of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said India had reached out to the United States and even China during the escalation but failed to secure any strategic advantage.

Defence Minister Kh Asif also said that Pakistan’s military response was widely observed globally and helped shape international perceptions of the crisis.

Turning to wider geopolitical issues, the defence minister launched a strong critique of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him a “major criminal against humanity”. 

He said the suffering inflicted upon Palestinians was unprecedented and argued that those backing Netanyahu were equally complicit. He added that if the United States genuinely upheld human rights, it should facilitate Netanyahu’s prosecution.
