Will Varun Dhawan reveal daughter Lara's face?

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has finally addressed the question fans keep asking: when will he reveal his daughter Lara’s face? And his answer makes it clear that this decision won’t be driven by fame, fans, or social media pressure.

The actor, who married fashion designer Natasha Dalal in a low-key ceremony in 2021, became a first-time father when the couple welcomed their daughter Lara on June 3, 2024. Since then, Varun has kept his personal life largely private, especially when it comes to his child.

On Tuesday, Varun interacted directly with fans during a Q&A session on X, formerly Twitter, where he fielded questions about everything from his career to family life and health. One fan bluntly asked, "When reveal lara face ??#varunsays @varun_dvn." Varun’s response was calm but firm, making his stance crystal clear. He wrote, "I rather leave that decision with her. Social media should be her choice not something I want to decide for her #varunsays."

The exchange immediately resonated with fans, highlighting Varun’s desire to let his daughter grow up away from public scrutiny and make her own choices when the time comes.

Another fan asked how he spends his downtime, to which Varun gave a glimpse into his new life as a hands-on father. Responding to "Hey @varun_dvn what do you do in free time #varunsays," he said, "Play with joey, my daughter. O play Paddel and cricket #varunsays."

Varun has previously spoken openly about how fatherhood has reshaped him. Last year, in a conversation with ETimes, he admitted he is still navigating what being a dad really means and is learning as he goes.

He shared, "I'm still figuring it out. Like how responsible I have to be, or how much of a kid I can still be or can be... I think men tend to go through this. Right now; Natasha is doing everything, I have to give her credit. The woman does practically everything initially, the man then comes in and becomes useful."

He also described the joy he finds in everyday moments with his daughter, adding, "I'm just enjoying playing with her. Being a dad is a lot of fun right now, and every day I'm trying to be a better dad... I don't think I'm there yet. I do watch TV at a really low volume now, else my wife will throw me out of the house."

While fatherhood has taken centre stage, Varun’s professional life continues at full pace. He will next be seen in Border 2, alongside Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The film is a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border, originally directed by J.P. Dutta, and is helmed by Anurag Singh. The war drama is scheduled for release on January 23 and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J P Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.

Varun was most recently seen in Shashank Khaitan’s romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, which also starred Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf.

For now, though, it’s clear that while Varun Dhawan may live in the spotlight, his daughter’s first brush with fame will happen only if, and when, she chooses it herself.
