LG by-polls in 24 Sindh districts being held today

The polling for the Local Bodies by-elections in 24 districts of Sindh for 56 seats has begun, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The voting which started at 8am today till continue till 5pm without any break in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions.

As many as 223 contestants are vying for 11 seats of chairmen and vice chairmen and 15 seats of ward members in Karachi division.

In Khairpur Nathan Shah a tough competition is expected on two seats of chairman and vice chairman.

Polling is also continued in Sukkur and Shikarpur.

For the 56 seats, there are a total 434 candidates in the run while more than 690,000 male and female voters will use their right to franchise to elect their local representatives.

There are 449 polling stations and 1,586 polling booths established in the province for the by-polls.

The Sindh government has made elaborate security arrangements and appointed more than 7,000 police personnel to perform duties around polling stations.
