Pakistan reports 12 more coronavirus deaths, 624 cases
Another 12 people died of the coronavirus during the past 24 hours (Tuesday) in Pakistan, raising the death toll in the country to 6,535, shows the latest figures released by National Command and Operation Centre on Wednesday morning.
The same period also saw another 624 people diagnosed with the deadly virus which has claimed 1,054,607 lives so far in the world. It means the number of coronavirus cases reported in Pakistan currently stands at 316,351.
However, 301,288 people have fully recovered after contracting the virus – 672 of them during the past 24 hours – which means the number of closed cases [deaths + recoveries] in Pakistan is 307,823.
On the other hand, there are 8,528 active cases in the country. Although most of these patients have mild symptoms and thus isolated at their houses, 787 of them are receiving treatment at different hospitals.
Moreover, 499 of these hospitalised patients are in the intensive care units with 79 of them placed on ventilators due to their very critical condition.
To detect, trace and isolate the infected persons, another 27,614 tests were administered in different parts of the country on Tuesday, increasing the overall number to 3,730,221.
Meanwhile, the province-wise distribution of the officially reported coronavirus cases is given as:
Sindh 138,891, Punjab 100,148, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 38,141, Islamabad 16,936, Balochistan 15,439, Gilgit-Baltistan 3,884 and Azad Kashmir 2,912.
