Govt says no Pakistani player can go to Asian Games on self-finance basis

The government has banned participation of Pakistani players in the 3rd Asian Games on the basis of self-finance, says a notification issued on Tuesday.

No federation can send any player to participate in the games on the basis of its own expenses or self-finance, says the notification.

A no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is mandatory to participate in the 3rd Asian Games, according to the notification.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued NOC for 53 players and only the players and athletes with permission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are eligible to participate in the games, the notification clarified.

The notification also warned that those who go to Bahrain to participate in the games without NOC will face action from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Those who go without permission cannot use the name and national flag of Pakistan, the notification concludes.
