Imran Khan to be tried in terrorism case?

The government of Pakistan has decided to put the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan on trial in a terrorism case, 24News reported on Saturday. 

According to sources, action will be taken against Imran Khan on the complaint of the federal government. Sources say that Imran Khan has been accused of inciting people against the state through social media. Federal cabinet’s permission will be sought before taking any action against Imran Khan.

The Interior Ministry has been assigned the task of preparing a summary for the federal cabinet. The Cybercrime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has completed its investigation into the charges against Imran Khan. After cabinet’s approval of the summary, proceedings will be initiated against Imran Khan. 

Sources say that legal proceedings will be started against Imran Khan under Article 6 and Article 19-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Other sections of the PPC will also be added to the case against Imran Khan. 

Sources say that cabinet’s approval is required to begin any action against Imran Khan under Section 196 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
