JI holds protest rally against new canals in Shikarpur
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) held a 10-kilometre “Save River, Save Sindh” protest march on Sunday from Jamrah Chowk to Lakhdar Clock Tower Chowk in Shikarpur against construction of six new canals in Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Provincial Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Kashif Saeed Sheikh led the protest march. The participants chanted slogans against the construction of new walls on Clock Tower Chowk.
They said that the River Sindh is the lifeline of Sindh province, and the Punjab government wanted to build new canals for their agriculture land that move will desert agriculture land of Sindh province.
New canals will destroy agriculture land in Sindh province entirely. They said that no bird will fly and no tree will grow, while no minerals will be available in Sindh.
The protesters said that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to protest against the anti-people policies of the incumbent government, and no conspiracy will be successful in this regard.
