Pakistan records only 2,980 coronavirus cases

Amid a visible decrease in the number of coronavirus cases reported daily, another 2,980 people were tested positive of the virus during the past 24 hours (Tuesday), raising the overall total to 237,489.
The figures released by National Command and Operation Centre on Wednesday morning also showed that the death toll climbed to 4,922 with 83 more patients dying of the virus.
Punjab continued recording most of the deaths with the figures currently standing at 1,929. It is followed by Sindh where 1,614 people have died so far. The details for the other provinces/regions are: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,045, Islamabad 140, Balochistan 124, Azad Kashmir 40 and Gilgit-Baltistan 30.
But it is Sindh where most of the cases are being recorded. The province has so far reported 97,626 cases. It is followed by 83,599 in Punjab, 28,681 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 13,650 in Islamabad, 10,919 in Balochistan, 1,595 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,419 in Azad Kashmir.
On the other hand, 2,236 coronavirus patients are currently in critical condition and being treated in the intensive care units of different hospitals across the country.
As far as the active cases are concerned, there are 91,602 patients in the country who have been either isolated at their homes/isolation centres or being treated in hospitals.
Meanwhile, 140,965 people have so far fully recovered from the infection. With 4,922 deaths reported in the country, the number of closed cases now stands at 145,887.
The authorities also conducted 21,951 tests during the past 24 hours after which the overall number has now increased to 1,467,104.
