Dollar up 32 paisas, pound gains 93 paisas

The US dollar started the new week with a gain of 32 paisas against the rupee after losing Rs1.59 against the local currency in the last three business days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The world’s dominant currency closed Monday at Rs163.62 in inter-bank rate against the Friday’s closing level of Rs163.30.

Meanwhile, the euro was down by 49 paisas and closed at Rs184.96 while the pound sterling gained 93 paisas and available for Rs207.63.

On the other hand, the dollar also made gains against the rupee in the open market and closed at Rs163.80, which means the US currency was up by 30 paisas against the previous level of Rs163.50.

However, the euro was down against the local currency just like the inter-bank rate and closed at Rs182 after losing 50 paisas. But the pound was available for Rs206 after gaining 93 paisas.

Last week on Friday, the pound and the euro had closed at Rs206.70 and the euro at Rs185.45 respectively in inter-bank trading, while the euro reached the level of Rs182.50 and the pound of Rs205 in the open market.

Earlier on Wednesday, the rupee broke the sequence of gains made by the dollar which lost 57 paisas against the local currency, ending the day at Rs164.32 against the previous day’s level of Rs164.89.

On Tuesday, the dollar continued surging against the rupee for the fourth consecutive day as its value had increased by Rs3.97 in inter-bank rate during this period.
