Five booked for ‘murdering’ dog in Karachi

A court in Karachi on Thursday ordered registration of a case against five persons, including a policeman, in connection with the murder of a dog, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Making it clear that it was the duty of police station in-charge to register case if a complainant came to him, the court of additional district and sessions judge-East ordered the SHO Ferozeabad to record statement of the petitioner in the case.

Riaz Hussain, the petitioner, had nominated policeman Ali Hassan, Mustafa, Ali, Waheed and Khalid in the case, and had said that he had been gifted a dog around two and half years back. “On February 9, 2023, the dog had barked at the suspects following which just three days after on February 12, the suspects killed the pet by repeatedly attacking it with a dagger,” said the petitioner, adding, “On February 21, when I went to police station for the registration of the case, the duty officer not only received bribe from me but also refused to register the case.”
