Airspace over Lahore airport closed, flight operation at Sialkot airport suspended

Authorities once again closed the airspaces over Lahore and Sialkot airports amid fears of an imminent war between Pakistan and India.

According to sources, the airspace over Lahore airport was closed for all types of air traffic from 8:35pm until further orders. Sources say the Pakistan Airports Authority has issued these instructions to all airports.

Later, the Lahore airport management received different instructions from the authorities. It was decided that the airspace would be opened for air traffic on the basis of prior intimation and coordination. It was also decided that airlines should take permission from the control tower before allowing boarding.

Also, authorities suspended the flight operation at the Sialkot airport from 8:30pm until an indefinite period of time. Sialkot Airport spokesperson Umair Khan cited the NOTAM as saying that this suspension of flight operation at the Sialkot Airport is temporary. The spokesperson said that flight operation at the Sialkot airport has been suspended due to operational reasons.
