Bilawal promises more legislative seats for Gilgit Baltistan

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has promised to increase the number of legislative seats in Gilgit Baltistan if his party is voted into power, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a mammoth public rally in Hunza Valley on Sunday Bilawal asked people to fully participate in the voting due to be held on November 15. “Your absence from voting will pave the way for a puppet to step in and gets control of everything here,” he added.

Bilawal said the PPP had fulfilled every promise it had made with the people of Gilgit Baltistan as “Our three generations are linked to this region.”

“We will complete our mission here. We will not only grant provincial status to you but will also elect your representatives for the Senate and the National Assembly so that your problems are solved as soon as possible,” he maintained.

Bilawal said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a game-changer project due to Gilgit Baltistan and Balochistan. “So, the people should get jobs on priority basis,” he said.

Bilawal said the first CPEC fruits should have been cherished by the people of Gilgit Baltistan but this did not happen.

“The PPP will provide jobs to the local people. We will together complete the mission of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto as every woman here wants to become Benazir,” the PPP chairman declared.

Earlier, addressing a rally in Thor area of Diamer, Bilawal described attempts to exclude opposition parties from the Gilgit-Baltistan election process as pre-poll rigging. He said “We will not allow the votes of Gilgit-Baltistan's people to be robbed.”

Bilawal said the government was trying to "force him into exile" from the region "so as to pave the way for election fraud", adding the government may try to use the courts to expel him from the region.

He added that he hoped the judiciary will rule in favour of democracy and not in favour of fraud. He further maintained that he wanted to let everyone know that he was not going anywhere from Gilgit Baltistan.

“If I have to be expelled from the region, I have to be arrested,” Bilawal declared, adding “I am with the people of Gilgit Baltistan till November 15.”

On November 7, Bilawal while addressing corner meetings in Darial and Thor in connection with the upcoming election in Gilgit-Baltistan, vowed to send "selected and puppet prime minister” packing along with his “coterie of corrupt people”.

He said the premier had violated the election laws by visiting the region and said that he cannot announce a package for the region just days ahead of the elections.
