Electricity tariff up by 51 paisa/unit for Karachiites

Electricity tariff for the consumers of Karachi has been raised by 51 paisas per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The increase in price per unit of electricity has been imposed under the head of uniform tariff. The revised charges will be collected from the consumers in the bill of September-November.
NEPRA has approved the raise in power tariff on the request of the government. The NEPRA official stated that quarterly adjustment of K-Electric is Rs 3.55. Therefore, consumers will have to pay 51 paisa per unit additionally, the official said.
The official said that the government will provide subsidy of three rupees four paisa per unit. He added that the government is providing subsidy of Rs 291 billion to consumers of Karachi annually.
