Report on flour, sugar crises an attempt to cover up rift in PTI: Fazl
JUI-F President Fazl-ur-Rehman (Left) and Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) President Fazl-ur-Rehman said on Thursday he was not ready to accept that Prime Minister Imran Khan was not aware of deeds of ruling party leaders Jahangir Khan Tareen and Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar.
During an informal talk with 24NewsHD TV, Rehman said the prime minister was not that ill-informed. He said the report of investigation into the sugar and flour crises was leaked to the media in order to cover up the infighting within the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Answering a question, Fazl said that why doesn’t those at the helm of the accountability process look at the Peshawar Rapid Bus Project. He said why the ruling party was trying to evade the foreign funding case. He said the PTI abolished the accountability institution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa because the rulers feared their own accountability. He said the rapid bus project in Peshawar had become a symbol of corruption. He said that respondents in the foreign funding case were crying about no proceedings in the case, but the rulers did not want proceedings in this case. He said he was not ready to believe that Imran Khan was not a partner in Tareen and Khusro Bakhtyar’s crimes.
