No change in petroleum prices, government warns media against spreading unverified reports
The government has clarified that no notification has been issued regarding any change in petroleum prices, dismissing circulating reports as baseless and unverified.
In a statement, the Petroleum Division urged media outlets to exercise caution and refrain from disseminating unconfirmed information related to fuel prices.
The division emphasised that any news regarding petroleum price adjustments must not be broadcast without proper verification from official sources, warning that such reports can mislead the public and create unnecessary confusion.
Officials further stated that reports suggesting changes in fuel prices without an official government announcement are entirely unfounded and should be disregarded.
The Petroleum Division called on media organizations to uphold responsible journalism practices, stressing the importance of accuracy and verification in reporting matters that directly impact the public.
There were some media reports claiming upto Rs100 decrease in petroleum prices.
