Lawyers in Lahore threaten to besiege IG office over police torture of their colleagues

Exasperated over the torture of lawyers by the in-charge of a police station in Lahore, lawyers in the city on Sunday threatened that they would besiege the IGP, Punjab’s office in case those involved in the incident were not suspended and a case was not registered against them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Mian Asif, a lawyer, said that his colleagues who had gone to Qila Gujjar Singh police station to seek details about a case were locked in a room and were subjected to torture.

Rana Rohail, another lawyer, said that Aleem Bhatti Advocate’s condition deteriorated due to the police torture and he was shifted to the Services Hospital in critical condition.

Members of the legal fraternity, who held a protest inside the police station, demanded that the in-charge investigation and other police personnel be suspended.

They alleged that the in-charge investigation and other police personnel hit Advocate Bhatti’s head with an iron rod.
