On the orders of Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah all courts including the Islamabad High Court and Katcheri were shut down on Tuesday amid tight security arrangements, a day after lawyers stormed the IHC and vandalized IHC CJ’s chamber, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Rangers and police heavy contingent have been deployed inside and around the Islamabad courts to avoid any untoward incident.
IHC special courts also did not hear the cases on which the litigants from the far-flung areas faced problems.
The black coats stormed the Islamabad High Court and vandalized the chamber of IHC CJ and other offices and broke windows and even doors of the Chief Justice Block on Monday. The lawyers were protesting against the demolition of their chambers by the Capital Development Authority.
The violent lawyers laid siege to the courtroom and the chamber of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah, virtually keeping him hostage for about three hours.
IHC CJ Athar Minallah also called on Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed and apprised him of the situation.
The police have registered FIRs against the lawyers involved in vandalism in the Ramna Police Station and a police hunt is underway to arrest the lawyers.
The IHC also decided to send a reference to Islamabad Bar Association to repeal the licences of the lawyers involved in violence.
