EU envoy calls on Gohar Ejaz, discusses renewal of GSP Plus status
EU Ambassador Raymond Kerublis calls on Gohar Ejaz, the textile giant and the former federal minister for commerce, to hold discussion on renewal of GSP Plus status for Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Monday.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further enhance bilateral trade ties between Pakistan and EU.
Gohar Ejaz assured EU envoy that Pakistan's textile industry was following all conditions of the European Union as Pakistani exporters were ensuring full implementation of labor and human rights laws.
He said that Pakistani exporters were ensuring gender inclusion and a safe environment in factories. Gohar Ejaz said that all conditions of the GSP framework have been implemented as Pakistan benefited from the GSP Plus facility.
The former trade minister said that GSP Plus facility brought awareness about the rules. Pakistan's business community was ready to work with the government to ensure implementation of all conditions.
Gohar Ejaz said that restoration of GSP Plus facility is very important for Pakistan's economy, adding that European Union was also benefiting from the GSP Plus facility as Pakistan was importing textile machinery from the European Union.
He said continuous bilateral communication with the European Union is very important as the restoration of GSP Plus will provide employment opportunities to people. Chairman APTMA Kamran Arshad, Asad Shafi and others were present in the meeting.
