Karachi contributes 46 percent to country’s total tax collection, says report
City's residents paid Rs4,253 billion in taxes, duties during FY, 2024-25

Karachi has become the city with the highest number of taxpayers in the country as the total revenue collected from the port city constitutes 46 per cent of the total tax collected, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to a report, residents of the city paid Rs4,253 billion under the head of duties and taxes during the financial year (FY), 2024-25, while the overall tax collection during the same year stood at Rs9,299 billion.
The report informs that Inland Revenue offices in the city collected Rs3,400 billion.
Similarly, the city’s taxpayers outnumbered others in terms of paying the highest amount under the head of customs duty, totaling Rs1,104 billion.
