Delay in Maryam Nawaz Honhar Scholarship installments puts students’ future at risk

Thousands of students enrolled under the Maryam Nawaz Honhar Scholarship programme are facing serious difficulties due to delays in the release of scholarship installments, raising concerns over their educational future, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.

With the deadline for fee submission approaching, students have yet to receive the latest installment. Several universities have begun issuing warnings to scholarship holders over non-payment of fees, adding to the anxiety among students.

The scholarship programme benefits around 85,000 students studying at 100 higher education institutions across Punjab. However, the delay has left thousands of students worried about possible disruption to their studies.

According to officials, the delay has been caused by universities failing to submit required result invoices.

Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Dr Iqrar said that only 25 out of 100 institutions had sent their invoices so far.

He clarified that scholarship funds cannot be released until the invoices are received. Educational institutions have been given one week to submit the pending invoices.

Dr Iqrar warned that scholarships would be cancelled if the required invoices are not submitted within the given timeframe, issuing a stern warning to universities to fulfill their responsibilities without further delay.
